Detroit area. Programs fall into three major categories: ACE, SOAR and TAP.
Activities, whether on-going or one-time special events, are designed and
implemented by professional teachers and staff who work at each of the
member schools. While most activities are geared towards students, many
member schools also offer activities and events for parents and other
community members.
with of in-kind support and funding from both member schools and project
partners, MetroConnect is able to provide a broad range of enrichment
activities to Detroit-area children and families, free of charge. Since June of
2000, over 6,000 students and some 1,000 adults have participated in
various MetroConnect activities. A primary goal has been to continue offering
the majority of activities free of charge, as long as outside funding sources
continue to be available.
